February 26th 2023. #EmbracingEquity from Lake Kivu to Lake Leman
Exciting news! Last week, DONA coffee, on the shores of Lake Leman (Switzerland), received coffee from Rebuild Women’s Hope’s new crop from Idjwi Island, on the shores of Lake Kivu (Democratic Republic of Congo).
I can’t find a better way to start the celebrations of one year of existence of DONA coffee and of International Women’s Day than by giving the floor to this women’s cooperative created in 2013 by Marceline Budza with the objective of improving the socio-economic situation of the women coffee growers.
Rebuild Women’s Hope’s new crop is, again, specialty coffee of very high quality and now CERTIFIED ORGANIC! I would like to celebrate this great achievement done with much effort and resources.
I invite you to watch Marceline Budza’s short video where she tells us how the coffee we drink has direct impact on the life of their community.
Marceline would love to receive your comments or questions on her coffee. If you want, you can connect with Marceline, with Rebuild Women’s Hope, or just send a message to elisa@dona.coffee and I will pass all the messages to her. One of my dreams with DONA is to bring together producers and consumers, and this is one step towards achieving this goal.
I am sure you will become a fan of this year’s crop of Rebuild Women’s Hope coffee and savour its vanilla, cedar wood and long-lasting cocoa finish.
DONA wishes you great celebrations! Think before your drink you coffee.
